Alesi Announces Re-election — What About That Koon Candidacy?
The Democrat and Chronicle had a news brief announcing Republican State Senator Jim Alesi is running for re-election.
According to the D&C:
Alesi to seek re-election
Six-term state Sen. James Alesi, R-Perinton, said this week that he will run for re-election.
“As we move into the next several years, I am committed to serving the community that put its trust in me,” said Alesi, who serves as chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business.
The Democrats have so far not announced a challenger. “We are talking to several strong and viable candidates,” said Sean Hart, communications director of the Monroe County Democratic Committee.
Whoa, wait a minute! The Communications Director of the Democratic Party says they are talking to several strong candidates. What happened to Assemblyman David Koon’s candidacy that he announced last year?
If I was David Koon, my first thought would turn to Jack Woltz — you remember him, he was the President of Woltz International in the movie classic “The Godfather”. He made famous the following line:
he comes along with his olive oil voice and guinea charm, and she runs off. She threw it all away just to make me look ridiculous! And a man in my position can’t afford to be made to look ridiculous!
Woltz of course was talking about Johnny Fontane.
David Koon is starting to look like a jackass. How do you announce that you are running for the Senate in 2007 and in April of 2008 your own party doesn’t pay you the respect that you deserve — the respect that a man in your position deserves?
The longer he remains silent on his plans, the more ridiculous he looks. Come on Dave, fess up and admit that after 13 years you like being the junior member of our power packed Assembly majority delegation!

Apparently the Monroe County Democrat Party believes that Koon is a weak candidate and cannot beat Alesi. This shutting down of a Koon candidacy by the local party ruins Koons chances of ever running for County Executive or any other countywide office.
This decision to jam Koon basically just ended his political career. He’ll never be anything more than an obscure backbencher in the Assembly where he can focus on getting more pork grants for painted wall murals in his district.
Check out this waste of taxpayers dollars here:

I thought David Koon said he would never ever ever accept pork spending in his district.
First of all, I would like to say that you butchered one of my favorite parts in GF1. Please don’t ever do that again! Koon isn’t even Italian! What reference is there linking the two? I am probably sure that you just got off the GF trilogy they have been showing on one of the cable channels (AMC?) but do us all a favor and let those guys do the acting!
Well I am glad that Alesi is coming back. I am looking forward to another term with him on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business. I really like watching my tax dollars being pissed away by incompetent people! Wait! isn’t Koon on the Assembly version of the same committee? So what’s the difference?
Really! Koon is nothing more than a go-to guy for signatures on Morelle endorsed Empire Zone bills. I don’t think I have ever seen Koon write a bill about a committee he is involved in. Maybe he should…since they affect the job status and economic development of the entire region!
Why do you care so much about Koon? If he’s the junior assemblyman hack you all mock him for? Let him and his son dig their own political graves. Don’t even waste your energy typing anything about him. He’s a hack, a puppet, and someone should unseat him for the betterment of mankind!
