Obama Caught Trying to Deceive the Public About his Leftist Views
Our friends in the New York legislature are busy passing budget bills, so there do not appear to be any hilarious/depressing scandals to report upon at this time. So let’s turn our attention to a presidential candidate who likes to deceive the public about his liberal views.
It’s well known that the media has fallen in love with Obama and does not like to ask him difficult questions (if the cretins on SNL do a skit about it, it’s safe to say that it’s well known). The only person who gives him a hard time on a regular basis is the shrew Hillary Clinton, who few people really like. And I would be the first to admit that Obama is a thoughtful, intelligent, and charismatic individual. Combine these with the fact that Obama is a relative newcomer to the political scene, and we have a situation where the democrat’s likely nominee is an individual that we know VERY LITTLE ABOUT.
I am convinced that Obama is a hard leftist and that thoughtful scrutiny will bear this out. Misty-eyed talk about “hope” and “change” may work for old ladies and simpletons. But as the economy continues to worsen, and as the McCain campaign picks up speed, thoughtful voters will demand that Obama provide specifics regarding his views.
If only there were some document that laid out Obama’s views regarding controversial issues. WAIT! There is such a document. Last December, the Politico released a 12 page issues questionnaire that Obama completed duing his state senate race in 1996. According to this document, Obama takes the following positions:
1. Supports a complete ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns, and a ban on “assault weapons.”
2. Opposes capital punishment and mandatory sentencing.
3. Supports Medicaid funding of abortions, insurance coverage of abortions for state employees, and opposes “any other restrictions on abortions.”
4. Supports the right of PUBLIC EMPLOYEES to strike, and supports banning the replacement of strikers in PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT.
5. Favors adding sexual orientation to the Human Rights Act and favors domestic partnership legislation.
6. Favors the public financing of political campaigns.
7. Favors increasing funding of public education by at least 50% and opposes any form of school voucher system.
Based on this, we can conclude that Obama is a garden variety leftist. However, when the story broke , Obama’s aides quickly came to his defense and said that he “never saw or approved” the questionnaire or the responses that were attributed to him. The story died soon thereafter.
I am happy to report that the story is back, and it appears that Obama and his aides are a bunch of stinking liars.
According to the Politico, a “Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago group that issued it. And it found that Obama - the day after sitting for the interview - filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Oabama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer.”
The worst part of this story is Obama’s response back in December. He could have acknowledged the questionnaire and then engaged in an intelligent discussion regarding his actual views and how they may or may not have changed since 1996. Instead, Obama had his people lie for him so he could continue to conceal his beliefs.
Obama cannot fool the American people indefinitely. As this campaign wears on, it will become increasingly clear that he is a leftist that cannot be trusted.
