Rudy Ready To Run?
Gentle Reader:
According to the New York Post, Rudy Giuliani is weighing a possible run for Governor this fall should Governor Paterson be forced to resign.
March 28, 2008 — In the latest twist in New York politics, Rudy Giuliani is eyeing a run for governor in a special election this fall should Gov. Paterson be forced to resign, sources say.
A top adviser to the former mayor, who pulled the plug on his presidential bid in January, yesterday dangled the possibility of Giuliani’s running in a special election.

The Post reported this week that state lawmakers started researching the line of succession after Paterson’s first week in office was spent responding to questions about extramarital affairs and the questionable use of campaign funds.
If Paterson resigns before August, a special election would have to be held in November.
We at Monroerising.com seriously doubt that Governor Paterson is going to resign. However, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Rudy’s. It’s reassuring to know we have such a capable person waiting in the political bullpen, so to speak, if needed.

This would certainly make sense. Rudy has what it takes in a Republican NY governor. In other words, he’s a law and order, national security and fiscal conservative. On everything else, he might as well be a Democrat. But I’ll take it. Patterson won’t resign, but I doubt he could beat Rudy in an election in a couple of years if it came to it.
