They’re At It Again — Create A Controversy Over MCC Presidency And Then Complain About Its Effect
They’ve done it again — the liberal political activists have generated tens of thousands of dollars worth of negative publicity for MCC over the Presidency “controversy” and now they’re in the D&C complaining about the effect of that controversy on MCC fundraising.
According to the D&C:
In a March 18 letter to MCC board Chairman Richard Guon, 16 members of the MCC Foundation’s executive committee wrote that “appointing a president who is not acknowledged to be the best candidate for the position will hamper the ability of the Foundation to raise private funds.”
When did anyone decide not to appoint the best candidate? The D&C continues:
Richard G. Ensman Jr., director of development and external affairs at Genesee Community College, said that any controversy generally “is a turnoff to somebody who’s being asked to make a major investment.”
“The donor wants to be sure that there’s stability in the leadership and there’s stability in the institution. If a donor perceives that that’s not present, I think it’s very common for some donors to hold back the gift or wait until the issue resolves itself,” Ensman said.
That’s right — any controversy is a turnoff to someone who is asked to make a major donation!
Does this sound familiar? It reminds me about Assemblyman David Gantt and his posse creating the controversy over the selection of the new Public Defender. Create a controversy because you couldn’t control the process and then questions the new persons ability to do the job because of that controversy.
Like we’ve said before — its an extremely limited play book, but when you have Gannett on your side you can get away with it.

I dont know whether all you right wing fanatics can read, but the second “C” in MCC stands for “Community”. That means the community has a say as well. David Gantt is a community leader and many of his constituents are students at MCC. He has every right to stir the pot and I applaud him for it.
