Governor David Paterson — He’s Getting Worse Every Day!

The New York Post had an article about Governor David Paterson firing former NYC Deputy Mayor Bill Lynch — the guy who gave him the advice to disclose his and his wife’s affairs.

March 23, 2008 — ALBANY - Gov. Paterson is angrily blaming former Deputy Mayor and long time Democratic operative Bill Lynch for the “disastrous advice” that led him to disclose his extramarital affairs, The Post has learned.

“David is furious with Lynch, isn’t talking to him,” said a source close to the new governor.

(snip)

A second source close to Paterson bitterly exclaimed, “Lynch helped the city’s first black mayor lose office, and now he’s helping the state’s first black governor do the same.”

(snip)

Many Democratic officials also fear that Paterson may have been so badly damaged by the disclosures that he will have little chance to attract the tens of millions of dollars in funding he would need to mount a campaign for governor in 2010.

Yesterday, Paterson ducked reporters’ questions and received chants of “David! David!” from a jubilant crowd during an appearance before Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in Harlem.

Paterson exited out a side door after a private powwow with Sharpton and a brief speech about fairness and the struggling upstate economy.

“Just as it is always important not to forget where you came from, which I will not do, it is also important not to exclude anyone else in the way we were excluded for so many years by others,” Paterson told the crowd.

Wow!  We all wondered if Paterson was ready for prime time and the answer is a clear no. One week in and we have: maritial infidelity, illegal campaign account expenditures and visits with Al  Sharpton.

Can’t wait to see how he does in week 2.

  1. Cincinnatus,

As I keep saying around here, I don’t think there wil be a second week. I believe that Arkansas Governor Bob Cowly will retain the record for longet serving blind governor at 11 days.

Personally I think that the Reverand Sharpton had just as much to do with Paterson disclosing. I love a good conspiracy and think that the Rev Al went to paterson and threatented to expose him. Paterson in an effort to get in front of the issue decided to expose himself. He most likely believed the crowds and newspapers and figured that he was untouchable.

    Welcome to Albany Mr Paterson.

  2. I love this blog!

I am so amazed at how things that I read here are not in the D&C for 2 or 3 days. I bet this story doesn’t get told for a week (if at all) in the D&C then I am willing to bet its on the last page of section B.

  3. Cincinnatus,

Every day? Its more like every hour! Latest news is he has used cocaine,

I wonder if he will claim he never actually inhaled (or whatever you do with cocaine)

  4. I certainly agree that it was bad advice. That’s one you could easily peg as a private matter and move on if it ever came out. Why start out a term with news like that?
