14621 Director — My Husband Lets Me Work There, But There Is No Way He Would Ever Live There!

The Democrat and Chronicle had an interesting story on Joan Roby-Davison, the Executive Director of the 14621 Community Association.  According to the D&C:

Even before Roby-Davison, 53, joined Group 14621, she had been doing community work at other neighborhood agencies. And though she is originally from Ontario County and now lives in Penfield, she has always loved Rochester and quickly grew to care about the people who live in the city neighborhoods.

(snip)

Roby-Davison lived in the city for several years but remarried in 1999 and moved with her husband to Penfield.

What!? She lives in Penfield.  There wasn’t one person in that entire zip code that could lead that organization?

Let’s hope the honchos over there make sure their next director actually lives there.

  1. Typical liberal white elitist. Liberals in general LOVE to scream about those terrible suburban republicans living in their ivory towers in rich neighborhoods.

Apparently, they like to scream this from their own suburban ivory towers in rich neighborhoods.

    B.S. Hypocrites!!!

  2. She can buy the house in 14621 area that I am trying to get rid of. Between the 14621 association and the NET office harrasing me for what my tennants do and then the police refusing to do anything about it is driving me crazy. Last month my tennant decided to put his junk on the curb the day after collection day. The 14621 organization called the Net office who informed me that they were only allowed to put it out the night before collection and it had to be cleaned up or I would be fined. When I asked them why they were not telling this to the person who put the trash out, I was informed it was my responsibility. My tennant was nowhere to be found so I had to go over and put the trash in the garage. Naturally my tennant would not put it out on the proper day, so if I wanted it removed I had to go put it out.

I know it seems like a long rant, but when I heard this, it just reminds me how the city and all its agencies make being a landlord impossible. Maybe the reason that the city is out of touch is because people like Ms. Roby-Davison who run it do not live there.

  3. I sympathize with you Mr. Davis. Many landlords in the city work very hard to keep up their properties and follow all the regulations but are many times treated just like the ones who could care less.

It should be fairly clear who the good eggs are versus the bad ones. And the good ones should not be treated as aggressively as those whom the city constantly has problems with.

You also have no choice but to rely on your tenants to act accordingly. I don’t suspect that you have nothing better to do in your life but to watchover your property(ies) 24/7.

  4. Mr Peabody

I am down to my last property. When I lived in the city, I owned 5 properties at one time. There was a time I thought real estate investing in the city was a path to success. It turned out to be a path to ulcers, thanks to people like Ms. Roby-Davison and ex mayor Johnson. I will never do business in the city again.
