Welcome Governor Paterson

As of this afternoon, David Patterson becomes our new Governor.  I don’t know much about the man.  He is taking office under the most difficult of circumstances.

I hope he has what it takes to re-focus our state on the issues that need the attention of state leaders.  Albany needs change if New York State — particularly upstate, is to survive. All indications are that Governor Patterson could be the right man at the right time.  Let’s hope so.

  1. At very least, the new Governor will foster a more collegial atmosphere in Albany (whether that turns out to be good for us or bad for us remains to be seen).

And by the way, although he says his name like its spelled “Patterson,” the actual spelling is “Paterson.”

  2. Thanks Occam and welcome Loretta!

  3. I cant believe it! The drama never stops. Now our new governor admits to having affairs? However he is quick to point out he never used state money to pay for his monkey business? Interesting that he needs to deny that before the accusation was ever made??

Bob Cowley Riley of Arkansas was actually the countries first blind governor in 1975. He made it 11 days as governor. Dale Bumpers left to be a US senator on January 3, 1975. The Arkansas governor David Pryor would not be was sworn in until January 14, 1975. Lets hope the new governor breaks that record.
