I Know You Don’t Like George Bush, But How Could Anyone in the North Country Vote Democrat Next Week?

Gentle Reader:

I certainly understand the feelings that a significant number of New Yorkers have about our president, George W. Bush.  Mr. Izguhde and I have vowed to never vote for a candidate, Republican or Democrat, who hails from the Old Confederacy.

I found this interesting clip on Niagaratimes.blogspot.com.  It is a clip of Senator Kevin Parker showing his lack of knowledge about anything north of Westchester County.

He asks “what is in St. Lawrence County that terrorists would want to attack?”  Former Senator Jim Wright stands and shows Senator Parker’s ignorance.  The hydro plant that provides power for most of New York is there and probably one of the largest targets in New York.

Back to the point of President Bush.  The most recent public poll show the Democrat, Darrel Aubertine, with a slight lead in the special election.  That seat has about 30,000 more Republicans than Democrats.  Bush fatigue is the only explaination for that — unless people up there think that Governor Elliott “The Steamroller” Spitzer should have more power.

If Aubertine wins, the Democrats will be one seat away from the majority.  Guys like Senator Parker will be calling the shots in that house.  Does anone really think that is in the best interest for anyone living outside of the City?

  1. I’ll never understand why upstate democrats would so readily hand our region over to these arrogant New York City folks who have no regard for our communities.

Actually, I do. The upstate democrat senators will all be handed higher paying committee chairmanships in exchange for redirecting more of our upstate tax dollars down to NYC.

Spitzer is already shipping funding for upstate schools (including ALL in Monroe County and Rochester) to NYC and isn’t even trying to hide it. The downstate electeds are laughing at us right now, all the way to the bank!

  2. What is worse stampede is that this New York City state Senator doesn’t even know that this hydro plant, which provides power for New York, even exists. If it aint in NYC, who cares?

Unfortunately, it may take a very hard lesson to be learned in order for Upstaters to realize that they’ve been lied to by Spitzer, NYC Democrats and our own Democratic Assembly delegation which supports them.
