Assemblyman David Gantt Apologizes — Hopefully We Can Move Forward

Channel 10 had a good piece on Gantt’s press conference.  He said he was sorry, indicated he was going to work with the new public defender, but continue to speak out on important issues. Evidently, he’s done such a good job in Albany that he can devote more of his attention to Monroe County government — who knows, maybe the big guy could run for County Executive in 2011.

Honestly though, I’m suffering from Gantt Fatigue — I’ve had enough of all the non-sense.

This issue was useful, however, in pointing out how out of touch Monroe County Democrats, left wing bloggers, and the liberal media are with “mainstream Monroe County.”

The traffic generated on our site during the Gantt controversy, speaks to the need for a forum like Monroerising.com.  Thanks to everyone who participated in our comment section during this controversy.  Once again, we would like to offer people the opportunity to post on our site — you just need to be opinionated and interesting.

  1. Your suggestion that David Gantt run for County Executive, while I suspect tongue-in-cheek, brings up a good point — the incompetence of the current county administration needs a much larger public forum. Perhaps monroerising.com can be that forum.

The recent fiasco surrounding the FAIR plan, and the ongoing fiasco with Ren Square, demonstrate blatant disregard for taxpayers, and serve to further erode the public trust in ‘government’. It seems that at this point, anybody could improve the performance of the County Executive and her cronies in the legislature — even David Gantt.

  2. Are you kidding? If it wasn’t for Mr. Gantt, Morelle, and the Democrats in the Legislature none of these antics would have ever existed. Don’t forget the Dems stopped the Community Solution that would have increased sales tax by 1/2 cent even after an agreement with the Mayor as ordered by Gannt and Morelle.
This thing with the Public Defender and Gannt is disgusting and I mean on Gannt’s part. Who’s he kidding? He wants to control the process for his own gain. Does he think the color of skin is what will make a difference in the ability of a Public Defender? I think not and it certainly has not been a problem for the last 30 years.

You want to talk about fiascos how about the 100% controlled and run City of Rochester? The great Fast Ferry, High Falls, Paetec Park, and others. All run by the Gannt & Moreele Group. Thanks but no thanks. Keep your Dems in the City.

From your comments I believe that you are not kidding, just completely out of touch with reality. Being out of touch makes you no different than most of the democrats in elected positions in Monroe/Rochester. What you do illustrate is shallow reasoning to defend untenable positions that are the basis of the democrats of the area. The County has been, and still is, an excellent steward of out tax dollars. They pay their bills, share revenues with local governments, and take care of the needs of the community. Your issue is that you are a die hard democrat and need to criticize the GOP controlled County. As an exercise in thinking for yourself, look back 10 years and add up the dollars that have been wasted by the city and compare it to any money that you believe the county has wasted. I am sure that you will feel silly. If you are unable to complete the exercise by yourself, just ask for some help.
