Oops. We Owe Brighton Supervisor Sandy Frankel An Apology — It Looks Like She Is Running Against Robach!

It looks like we owe Brighton Supervisor Sandy Frankel an apology — she is running against Joe Robach for Senator.

We received the e-mail below from Supervisor Frankel (shown unedited and in its’ entirety) stating that her press conference was cancelled for “personal reasons”.  Before we show you the e-mail, we wanted to offer this link to an article in the morning’s D&C about Willa Powell announcing her run for senate.  Supervisor Frankel is quoted as re-stating her intentions to run for the senate.

Frankel was to formally announce her candidacy on Wednesday, but canceled the event.

Asked if she is still planning to run, Frankel said Thursday, “That would be my plan.”

Below is the Supervisor Frankel’s response:

Dear Cincinnatus,

I appreciate your interest in the campaign for New York State Senate, 56th District, but let’s set the record straight.

1. The Town of Brighton’s newly designed Web site did have a link to http://www.sandrafrankel.org but the fact of the matter is that there never was nor is such a Web site. We have already removed that line and corrected any possible perception of a problem.

I do have a campaign Web site, but the Town of Brighton’s Web site does not provide a link. However, if your readers are interested in visiting my Web site, I welcome them: http://www.sandrafrankel.com.

2. I postponed my press conference for personal reasons. I’m sure that you and your readers understand that personal is just that, personal. We sent out a press release in advance of Wednesday’s press conference to alert the media and phoned as many people as we could to advise them of the change.

3. I am 66 years young and proud of it. One benefit of my age is that I have gained a great deal of experience that will be very useful in Albany, since I have on-the-ground understanding of the challenges facing our community, and a record of accomplishment in solving problems and making progress to improve conditions and services for the people I have served.

I have worked in the trenches as Superivsor for 16 years, as a school board member for 10 years, and as a Speech Language Pathologist and community activist for more than 20 years in the public and private sectors, in health care and educational settings and in private practice. I know what our community needs and how to get the job done.

It may be of interest to you to know that my mother retired from her position at the Light House for the Blind in Miami, FL at the age of 82 and she’s still going strong! Today, 60 is the new 40.

I also encourage those who focus on age, per se, to rethink their perspective in light of our newly enlightened laws on age discrimination.

Thanks for thinking of me. I hope this is helpful.

Sandy Frankel

Thank you Supervisor Frankel.

  1. The Supervisor’s response in item #1 is simply untrue.

  2. Allow me to elaborate.

“but the fact of the matter is that there never was nor is such a Web site. We have already removed that line and corrected any possible perception of a problem.”

It is somewhat amusing to read that and then click the link to an active web page which was just denied to be in existence.

At the time Supervisor Frankel posted this comment (Feb 7, 2008 at 1:42 pm) the .org domain was indeed registered and redirecting to the frame content of the .com domain.

To be fair to the Supervisor, Judge Morris also had a link to her web page. It has since been removed as well.
